Field study to Chios
Took a quick flight to the beautiful island of Chios spent three days there exploring the island, learning about the agriculture, and swimming at the beaches.

We got to tour a local aloe farm where they produce the only fully organic and natural aloe juice in the world.
The owner of the place was very kind to all of us and walked us through the entire juicing process.

Chios is one of the only places in the world that can grow Mastic. It is used to make gum, adhesive, and the mastika liquor.
We got to tour the Mastic museum and learn about the growing and harvesting process.

We got to explore an abandoned town called Anavatos. The town was built during the Byzantine era, but lost much of the population after the Massacre of Chios in 1822. But after an earthquake in 1881 the town was completely abandoned.
